I've been listening to this song since I was a kid
It's one of the songs that has been played over and over again in church
It's grandma's favourite, and it's mom's favourite too
It's one of their all-time favourite humming song
But I never bother to find out why they love this song so much

Till today
I saw this song in one of the post on a young friend's loss
Then only I understand why the hymn means so much to everyone

““ 这首家喻户晓的圣诗，不知安慰了多少人。你可知道作者在什么情况下写下了这首感人肺腑的诗？

作者史克文(Joseph Scriven 1819-1886)，生于爱尔兰，父亲是皇家海军上校。早年他一心想当军人，曾进军官学校，但因健康欠佳而辍。 1842年，他毕业于都柏林大学。在他结婚前夕，他的未婚妻意外堕水溺毙，当时他痛不欲生，但恩友耶稣安慰了他。他在廿五岁时，伤心地离开了这翠绿的故乡，前往加拿大执教。数年后，他再次恋爱，可是就在筹备婚礼时，未婚妻突然病故。自此他孤独一生，将自己的生命、财产，光阴完全奉献给主，让主引导前程，惟有主才是他最亲密的良友。他生性豪爽，乐于助人，经常帮助贫病和孤寡，时常带了一把锯子，在街头为贫民，残障者或寡妇义务作工。在严冬时，他将衣服和食物与穷苦的人分享，自己过着简朴的生活。

1855年，他从最痛苦忧伤的经验中，写下了这首诗。 1857年他母亲在英国病重，他不克前往探望，就把这首诗寄去安慰她。后来有一次他自己病了，友人来探望他，从他床旁看到这首诗的草稿，阅后好奇地问他可是作者？他说：「这首诗是主与我共同写的」。 1886年，他不慎灭顶于安大略湖，真是不幸的巧合。

这首诗在1865年被编入英国的圣诗集中。 1875年，孙基（Ira D. Sankey,见p. 13）将它编入美国的「福音圣诗集」中。虽然史克文只写了一首圣诗，但百余年来一直是基督徒的至爱。

这首诗的作曲者是孔文士（Charles C. Converse 1832-1918）。他是美国人，早年赴欧就读，回美后专攻法律，但对音乐与哲学有更广泛的兴趣。他作有许多乐曲，但最脍炙人口的，却是1870年作的这首简单的圣曲。

A week before I had such a great wonderful trip
I felt so blessed with everything
And I think it's time to go back to reality to continue my work
Last night I had the most scariest experience in my life
Reaching the hostel around 8pm
With no single person, with no power supply
Being alone in a spooky dark hostel
My first thing that struck my mind was: "I am so dead this time."
Suddenly recalled a friend staying nearby
Contacted her immediately, got help from her
Managed to get myself a shelter for the night
I never felt that relieved before
Thank god for everything

While I was self-pitying myself
Wondering why I was so pathetic
At the same time I came across this song

It's not one of the best song i reckon
Don't know for what reason

I Guess I Did Pissed Him Off

There's this one professor, we are required to buy two textbooks (both written by him) which cost RM 105, I reckon buying textbooks for any class is definitely a must, for one point that I don't understand is he insisted that we must buy from him. Even though you manage to get those textbooks from your seniors, he wouldn't accept, you still gotta buy one from him. No excuse, no exception, you just gotta buy. Period. I totally don't get his unreasonable theory. He said it's too tedious for him if some of the students buy and some not buying, that's the reason he insisted we get the books from him and no special discount for his students. According to him, there must sacrifice and commitment from the students.

However, one of the folks in our class get to check with the corporate book supplier and manage to get a great deal from the supplier, which cost bout RM 73 only! EFF. We can easily get those books from the supplier with cheaper rate. Some may say RM 32 is small money and not much difference, they wouldn't really bother. But when I say there're 127 of us in class, that say adding up to be bout RM 4,000 in total. EFF it's almost a monthly salary for an extraordinary employee (according to the market nowadays, an ordinary one earns almost RM 2,000 per month only). He's an educator, a teacher, I can't see what's the rational insisting us to get those books from him where we actually can get cheaper ones. A professor somemore a head of department (who earns bout RM 12,000 to RM 15,000 per month - from what he told us) craves so much for that damn RM4,000. EFF.

Some folks worried about discrimination and their grade so they still buy from him, just to please him, just to fulfill his cravings, just to believe that they could secure their good grades cause they're safely in his "BOUGHT" list. For your info, he did exactly the same thing last year. EFF. I don't give a damn this time, I look down on that so-called professor, I joined the opponent group buying the books from the supplier instead, and saved the RM 32 for my following week meals and lastly I pissed him off (I guess)!

I know I might sound pretty fussy, property people will always have a concept in mind: " Under normal circumstances, never pay more for the exact same property." We believe that and we practice that.

p/s: I gotta work harder for his paper, I don't want to give him any excuse to discriminate me from the class. Peeps, pray for me and wish me luck!

A little girl whom I never get to remember her name

By calling her the Curly-Haired-Tomboy-Kiddo all the time instead

One of mom's cousin sister, Auntie May
When we used to be younger kids, we love to go Auntie May's place
Everyone in the family is really nice to us
And we like her so much because she's always with the warm smiling face
Auntie May married quite a few years back
After a while she gave birth to two adorable kids
We see each other quite often during family gatherings and festive occasions

Auntie May's adorable kids- a handsome boy and a cute girl
Her elder boy looks exactly like the father, handsome and macho
While her younger little girl is slightly too boyish for a little girl

My boyish little cousin sister
She's eight years old this year
She has really curly shoulder length hair
She's seldom with any girlie clothes
She's more often with shirts and jeans
She never sits still, she runs everywhere
She plays around with the other younger cousins
She's just like a little boy with longer hair
That's when we gave her a nickname
Curly-Haired-Tomboy-Kiddo

Although she's different from any other little girls
Any other girls who suppose to look more girlie
She's truly cute with her natural curls on
She's more physically active like a boy
And she's totally hippy with those baggy jeans on
She's is just so special for who she is
And I can see both Auntie May and her husband really love her

Today I regret
I regret that I never appreciate the chance to know more bout this special girl
I regret that I don't even know her name but just Curly-Haired-Tomboy-Kiddo
Today I could never see her again
For some unexplainable reason, she left and will never be back again

At the visitation, Mom couldn't stand for too long
Too much sorrow
Too much tears
She left after a short while
I didn't go with mom
I am always a big crying baby
I knew I couldn't take it too

The last time I saw her was a month ago
She was there at a family gathering
Still with the boyish clothing
Still with the curly hair
She still runs around with other kids
She just seems normal and healthy like usual
After all these years
I've been seeing her from a new born baby till a eight years old kiddo
But after today
I won't see her again during any family gatherings
I won't see her again during any festive occasions
That makes me feel awfully sad

Sometimes I doubt
Does god really exist?
She's only eight years old and why she's taken?
She is just a kid, an innocent one
Who haven't seen the whole world yet
Who deserve to have a life
Faith, that's a hard word for me sometimes
I am sorry I doubt god
Pain can make us doubt god
I wish I had been more compassionate with the loss and pain
Perhaps this is why God allows us to experience pain
So that we might more easily and lovingly sympathize with those who are going through it.

Dad,

You dont really talk much at home, maybe you find it hard to communicate with your all-3-girls-kids, it's a house with full of women. I totally think that you're the coolest dad in the universe, seems like you know everything, you fix everything, you might screw something up sometimes, yet still you're the MAN of our home.

Mom always says, " Your dad loves you girls, a lot more than he loves me. Dad is kinda person who doesnt really express much of himself. Family shall hold on to each other, no matter what happen, no one shall be left behind. Sometimes adults do err, we screw things up, we make stupid mistakes. We are human beings like you too, we hope to be forgiven and to be given a chance to learn and to grow from our mistakes. "

When I'm away from home, I do miss our home and miss you dad. Well of course ,we never have any mushy words like "I miss you" or "I love you" in our conversation before. Lets just say we're pretty shy people who feel really awkward to express feelings like this. But deep down myself, I know family does means a lot to me. We dont stay in fancy house, we do face crappy situations yet still home is definitely my warmest shelter.

Eventually when I grow older, I sort of see the scenario more clearly, I think I understand what mom is trying to imply. Grandparents getting older, parents getting older and sisters are getting older too. I wish I could be the one who able to take care of them one day, it sounds like a huge thing to take care so much people, I doubt I can do that.

I dont know how far I could go in terms of maturity, achievements, capabilities. Sometimes I do have some odd feelings that I should really do something, something big, something extraordinary that I think I can. You gave me an extraordinary name, Mitorica, I feel like I have a potential to do something with the name, something that will make you proud of. I am seeking deep down myself, figuring out what's that "thing" that I could do.

Dad, I just wanna say Thank You. Thank you so much for the name Mitorica, Thank you so much for every single little things.

According to Oxford Dictionary, procrastination is an action to delay doing something that you should do, usually it is because you do not want to do it.

According to my dictionary, procrastination is a sin, definitely one big evil sin.

I've sinned

I am unforgivably lazy
I delay doing chores and work

I am totally addicted in procrastinating
I am a pathetic full time PROfessional procrastinator
I am wickedly full of sin that I might end up in hell.

Talking about hell, i remembered there's a high school teacher of mine who used to tell us that she would like to end up in hell after she dies. The reason she gave is,

"There's no fun in heaven, everyone have to behave well in heaven, we have to talk decently, we have to act politely, we tell no lies and adult jokes, we have to do anything that will maintain the peace and serenity in heaven. However, to be in hell, we could do whatever we like, we could shout and yell like nobody's business, we could slang with awfully offensive language, we could gamble with poker cards, mahjong and even rummiieee, plus liquor is a bonus allowance indeed. Ahh, it's madly more fun to be in hell, I'll definitely miss those if I end up in heaven. Wouldn't it be better if I go hell ? " *wink*
